Ascent Trip Report

The road approach from the west was really not bad- 4WD and good approach and departure angles were needed for a couple spots on the pipeline road, but with only high clearance, one could have made a slightly longer approach from due west of the peak

This hike was a lot more challenging than the stats would suggest. That's because the terrain was terrible. Crossing the desert floor was enjoyable and easy enough, but once we started really ascending, it was mostly on rocks- even the ones in the ground were unstable (perhaps due in part to recent rains), but when the rocks were stacked on each other, they were prone to rolling. On the plus side, the cacti were usually spread out enough to be easily avoided.
