Ascent Trip Report

This was the first of a three peak day. Clamshell, Rankin, and Monrovia. We did the 16 mile loop, up Ruby Cyn to the firebreak to Clamshell (steep) then over the road and firebreak to Rankin and Monrovia. Coming down from Monrovia was probably the steepest firebreak I've gone down. Lucky for us there was about a foot of two day old snow that made for perfect heel plants to descend. We had snow over most of the route once leaving Clamshell and then down to about 4000' on the road out. Good bear prints in the mud and snow and saw a skunk! Long day, started at 8:00 got back at 6:00 but very enjoyable, clear, and scenic day. Some pics
