Ascent Trip Report This was a private hike with George Christiansen of 3 peaks in Joshua Tree National Park. For 5194 and Ryan, we started at the Ryan Campground. We followed the Calif. Hiking and Riding trail a short distance then up a gully to 5194. There was no register or BM on 5194. From there we hiked north to Ryan. Again no register or BM. From Ryan, we followed Rt. 3 of the HPS peak guide down a gully back to the campground.
Next was Joshua Mountain. We drove around to 29 Palms to Utah, turned right (south) for
about 3 miles to Wellock Rd and parked. From here, we crossed the desert floor to a gully that went west toward the summit. There was a well ducked, use trail up to the base of Joshua Mtn. We then went around to the right to the north side and did a rock scramble to the summit. Again no register or BM on the summit. On the return, we went around the other side which actually was a better route.
