Ascent Trip ReportPassing this cemetery named Mount Calvary, I couldn't resist driving around it (while incidentally looking for a restroom). What I found instead was a grassy high point with good views in three of the four cardinal directions. It even had a few concrete benches at the high point (surrounding a large gravestone), which accommodated my need to rest a bit while taking in the view. Of course, it's always interesting to check out the markers in a cemetery, and, though they were all of recent vintage, the sheer size of this cemetery brought on a wondering about so many people being alive today and that we continue fill up more and more space in this world simply with what's left of our used-up bodies.
As for the name, I took the liberty of listing this high point as "Mt. Calvary" on Peakbagger, because (1) it's in the Mt. Calvary cemetery, (2) it's the highest point around except for the microwave towers to the north, which are likely off-limits due to a fence, (3) it has good views, (4) I could not find a Mt. Calvary on Google Maps, and (5) it's a common name, reputed to be the place Jesus was crucified.
