Ascent Trip ReportWe climbed Mount Graham and Freycinet as part of a rather epic 33km day walk, circuiting the entire peninsula. We took the shorter route first, traversing Wineglass Bay Beach before making the ascent to Graham. There was a spot of drizzle and ominous clouds but the weather became absolutely glorious as we headed up the mountain slopes, turquoise waters and the rugged peaks of the Hazards behind. We arrived on the scrubby summit of Graham around 1pm, having left at 9:30, where we admired stunning views of the sea, the peninsula and Schofield Island. After descending to the saddle between the two mountains, we made the climb to Mount Freycinet, where we were rewarded with even better views from the various boulders on top. Deciding we wanted to see more of the peninsula, we took the other route back, ultimately walking the length of Hazard Beach and turning the walk into an 11 hour epic. Thoroughly worth all the effort.
