Ascent Trip Report

I believe this to be the true HP of the state park, although Covill gives us a candidate point just west. My intention was to nab both today. The second point is so subtle that while standing on this peak I did not see it and instead mistook the next more prominent peak to the west to the be his second candidate peak. I had just post-holed with out snow shoes 12 to 16 inch deep snow and was not interested in post-holing all the way along the ridge as it has too much scrub oak (Gamble) thickets that the park does not want you to disturb. So I planned to hike back to the designated park trails and bushwhack back up through a easily visible pine/fir forest to the south. See GPS track.
I did not realize until too late that I ended up thus, peakbagging a new more prominent point inside the national forest outside of the state park boundary)

Of the three summits, Carpenter has by far the best views. This peak has OK views but solitude and the last peak described as summit "c" was in the middle of an oak thicket
