Ascent Trip Report

The most challenging part was getting to the trailhead. I first tried getting to La Sal Pass from the west and that is one serious HC4WD road. Then I found the signed "Two Mile Road" off UT 46, leading to the signed "La Sal Pass" road, leading to near the trailhead. This is mostly a good gravel road. The last bit up to the trailhead from the La Sal Pass road is dirt, first good, later not so good. I camped about 1/2 mile below the trailhead and just walked in from there the next morning. If you have a GPS, the trailhead is at 38.427, -109.239. The trail is faint but reasonably obvious; quite a few people do this climb. It took about 2 hrs to the summit, all Class 1/2, and about the same time going down. Gorgeous views out across Arches and Canyonlands. It would be reasonably easy to add Tukuhnikivatz or Mellenthin to a day trip.
