Ascent Trip Report

Parked at the AT crossing at Hog Camp Gap (accessible by 2WD) and hiked north on the AT almost to the summit, then walked over to the top. Old maps show the AT going west of the summit but it actually passes just east of it. The true summit is either the highest boulder in a boulder pile or a spot in the midst of a brier patch. Accessing the top might be easier in the winter when the briars are at a minimum, and the views are certainly great this time of year thanks to the lack of leaves and the clear air. I dawdled, but fast hikers could do this in 20 minutes from the car.
