Ascent Trip Report

As the location of Hamilton CoHP was updated in the 2018-11-09 Peakbagger updates, I revisited the area to 'bag' the new one. The new Hamilton CoHP is situated right on the border of Wellington county and is just a couple kms west of the old one which was situated on Campbellville Road. The biggest issue with determining the exact location of this CoHP is knowing exactly where the Wellington County border is.

I roadside parked across from 2 houses on Watson Road South, just northwest of the coordinates Peakbagger has listed and walked back down to where the road sharply turns south. At the turn there's a short gravel/grass path to the fenceline/hedgerow. I wasn't 100% sure where the Wellington/Hamilton country borders were, but I assumed that it was the fenceline/hedgerow. The Peakbagger coordinates seem to indicate the high point on the Wellington side of the fence line near a hydro-line pole. There was also a large boulder which would be the highest point if it was indeed inside Hamilton district. However, on the other side of the fence line (caution, there's a No Tresspassing sign -- the fence has been crushed down and can easily be walked over), there are a couple of other high spots: one is the area just to the north along the fence line in an open, but wooded area, and the second a small mound just to the east of that area in the open field -- This appeared to me to be the highest point on the Hamilton side of the fence line

Note: As of January 2020, a new house has been built on the narrow ridge just east of the Hamilton COHP
