Ascent Trip Report

After failing this last year (the garden tour was unavailable), it was good to finally make it this year.
I booked the tour online 2 months in advance, total cost 33 euros. For this you get a 2 hour guided tour of the garden, plus entrance to the museum after (avoiding the queues too) plus the Sistine Chapel.
The guide was excellent, and helpful in suggesting the actual highpoint (since the garden has been renovated very often, and is totally landscaped, its not so easy to tell!). In both her and my opinion there are 2 possible highest points, the first near the radio station just off the top of Viale Gregorio XVI, and then near the Liberty Bell. My GPS read 80m at the first site, and 79m at the second. It also had the same reading at the Heliport, another possible site. Of course this 'summit' is a little silly, but I prefer this site than any manmade sites, such as St Peter's Dome.
A fun tour and Europe's lowest high point!
