Ascent Trip Report

Another drive-up complete with visitor's centre. This time the saving grace a thirst quenched in the bar which serves top quality Belgian beers. A bizarre tower like a giant trig point with airplane style steps leading up to a tiny platform stands behind the buildings. Apparently the purpose is so that one can stand 700m above sea level (the "natural" top is 694m in altitude). Surrounding area is a massive plateau covered in mossy bog with some pine forest. Looks like large tracts of the lower grampians in Scotland rather than the forests of the Ardennes that I had been driving through for much of the afternoon. Weird.
