Ascent of Ben Nevis on 2019-01-02
|Date:||Wednesday, January 2, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4413 ft / 1345 m|
Ascent Trip ReportGood conditions, just a little chilly as you can expect. The sky at the summit was clear (above the clouds: between 1000 m and 1300 m). A little snow on the ground above 1000 m. We didn't bring crampons or ice axes (thanks to the snow condition update I got from Fort William nevisport the evening just before). Most of the other hikers (they were a lot of them) were packed with a lot of (unnecessary?) gears. We decided to go down the arête route. We found there a nice rocky traverse to Càrn Mòr Dearg, nothing more than class 2 even with the light snow cover. It was very enjoyable and probably the first mountain traverse for my sister. We decided to end the hike at the North Face Car Park and found a car ride to bring us back to Glen Nevis visitor center.
