Ascent Trip ReportA couple of additions to Lisa's excellent trip report:
To get to the trailhead for Little Sur Trail, either drive 6.5 miles south from Bixby Bridge or 3.7 miles north from Andrew Molera State Park. The Coast Road is a well-packed dirt road but signs warn it is impassable wet weather. When dry it was no problem.
You can park directly across from the trailhead. It is marked by a latched wooden gate and, just inside, a large sign displaying the "rules". Little Sur Trail is an official National Forest Service trail operating under an easement from the El Sur Ranch for the first mile and a half inland. After that you pass into land owned by the Granite Rock Company, and then soon thereafter into the National Forest. It possible to take the trail all the way past Pico Blanco campsite, turning north towards the Boy Scout Camp. There's a Pico Blanco South Use Trail which heads to the summit from the southeast if you'd prefer not to take the road past the quarry.
The summit is marked by several white limestone outcroppings, a benchmark and a summit register in a sturdy metal pipe. Pico Blanco is regularly but infrequently climbed with 3 or 4 visitors a month noted in the spring and winter months
