Ascent Trip ReportSo this was part of my 28 hour loop from Tampa to hit the Alabama and Florida high points. I hit Alabama's at 8:30pm the previous night and hit here about 7am. A jack knifed semi at the north entrance nearly shut down entrance completely ... but there was just enough room for a standard car to slip through. Okay, jack knife may be a little extreme. It looked like he was trying to use the high point loop to make u-turn and he ended up with the cab stuck in the the ditch on the east side of the road and the trailer across both lanes and most of the entrance to the high point. As far as high points go, this one is nothing more than a turnout on a county road ... but it's well kept ... and it completes the southeast Atlantic coast group of states for me. If I had had another five hours to spare, I would have hit Mississippi's high point in this loop, but that will have to wait for another trip. |
