Ascent Trip ReportNice hike with my good friend Jonathan, it was a long time no see and why not do a hike in this remote area.
This national park (Hautes Gorges de la rivière Malbaie) is now open during winter but nonody seems to remember that. We had the park for us. We parked the car at the barrage, we’ve cross the bridge and start hiking toward Le Riverain hiking trail. We open the trail and it seems like nobody has ever take this path this winter. We cross another bridge over « rivière des martres » and after a short ascent, we reach the summit of Mont le Riverain. We were in the clouds, no view for us today but we enjoyed a view at another place during the ascent. We hike back to the car in our path. We’ve enjoy this walk, lots of talk. The trees were beautiful with lots of snow on it.
We’ve explore some other remote area of the park. We wanted to reach the « lac noir » but the road was clear of snow for only two kilometres. So, it was not possible for us. We saw a big owl flying over the car, it was very impressive.
We leave the park for Québec around 11AM. We started our hike at 6:50AM in the morning. We’ve made a quick stop at Baie St-Paul famous McDonald restaurant and we met a good friend of mine, Martin Bouchard with his parent. So we stayed to eat our fat snack and have a talk with them.
The road was dangerous, lots of incidents.
Can’t wait to do another awesome hike with you my friend.
