Ascent Trip Report

This ridiculous peak was the last of the "Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' Peaks". For other reasons, I had completed 7 (of 8) of peaks back in 2011, leaving this at the top of the "almost done" list for many years. When my family wanted to meet in southern Alabama, I flew into Charlotte, NC and picked off a few peaks en-route. This was the (statistical) highlight.

Drove to the summit area after dark and in the fog. Tagged the BM and water tower in the fog. On the plus side, no one could see me climbing up various walls and lawns. . .On the negative side, I couldn't see much for the effort. The next day started with the high point of Lookout Mountain (ridge), which had objectively better views simply because of the steep drop-off of the eastern slope.
