Ascent Trip ReportParked along Squaw Pass Road and followed the obvious trails on national forest land using the GPS track of the Michek family. It was brutal cold and windy and I wish I wish I had more layers. Fingers were frozen...thinking wind chill around 15F. Snow on ground mostly on downclimb down to creek through north face woods about 3 inches deep. Thick woods Yucky solo hike. The bushwhack on the south slope of Santa Fe was mostly dry of snow so that was fine but a lot of downfall and it was just a straight up class 2 slog. Few views. You do this to get a 1k prominence peak but this was not a particularly fun hike in the cold. Not the most beautiful bushwhack and no rock scrambling. |
