Ascent Trip ReportParked at Beegum Gap Trailhead (only space for about three cars here) and used the Beegum Trail to reach Rabun Bald. The trail on 27 Nov 18 was frozen in all the places where water crosses the trail. Very Slippery! Great views from the lookout tower. All the trees have a coating of ice and light snow coverage on the ground. Temps were around 22 degrees (high for the day). Then I used the Bartram Trail to hike South to Flat Top and walked all the way across. Steep but short whack to Flat Top. Then I backtracked on Bartram until I got to the trail intersection for Flint Knob and Alex Mountain. I hiked about .7 miles to Flint Knob for fantastic views to the south. Backtracked on Bartram and Beegum back to the trailhead. The whole hike was 9.55 miles. I had intended to hike Alex as a continuation from Flint Knob but was running out of daylight. I got a late start because I forgot my sticks and had to wait in Clayton for the outfitter to open so I could buy a new pair.
