Ascent Trip Report

I had to take care of a couple things in St George, so I added a few hikes to the trip. The first hike was a cinder cone. When traveling north on UT-18 the TH is on the right side of the road 1.3 miles north of the north Snow Canyon State Park entrance. While this is still a part of the park there is use fee.

The views west are better looking over Snow Canyon State Park as the cinder cone isn't high or close enough to offer great views down into the canyon. It is a simple walk on a well maintained, and well used, trail. I didn't hike down into the crater, bit I could see there is a stone structure at the bottom of the trail.

After hiking this, I drove across to the North Cinder Cone, but I do not believe it is a part of the state park as shown on the topo. The area was fenced off with no access and it appears that they are using it as a cinder quarry.
