Ascent Trip Report

Climbed after the first winter storm of the year. 15in of wet snow on the ground. Too much snow at the turnout to park off the road at the trailhead so parked up the road at the small parking area at the entrance of bear valley neighborhood. There was no signs prohibiting parking there despite what previous climbers had posted. Was initially not planning on wearing snow shoes, but so glad I did, would not have made it otherwise. Had to break trail almost the whole way up, until a snowmobile passed me in the last half mile. Wished I had started just a bit later so I could have taken advantage of the trailbreak, but at least it was easier on the way down. I followed the ATV trails through corral gulch, despite others that have simply followed the ridge in winter. I was worried their would not be enough snow coverage and make the climb harder. Summited both of the east highpoints, and got a an awesome view of the fresh snow covering molekulmne. Despite the slow progress in wet snow was an awesome day, 4.5hrs car to car.
