Ascent Trip ReportOne of my favorite hikes in the MRV. The trailhead is at the end of Bowen Rd. Follow a yellow blaze until you reach a cool beaver pond around 2,300’. Past the pond, the trail is unmarked but easy to follow. Once the trail reaches the ridge there is an old cabin. The trail heads south from here about a hundred feet below the summit. At the summit are fire tower remnants and a view looking NE. This is a great view on a clear day but the best view is another tenth of a mile or so south. From here the trail is a little hard to follow but it is worth it. It ends halfway across Scrag’s summit ridge at a rocky clearing. The views across the valley of the Green Mountains are unbeatable. |
