Ascent Trip Report

Added this peak to the database last night as I wanted to give it a shot after Petit Jean, mainly to see if the old tower was still present. From Petit Jean I drove back south to the road marked 30 on the maps and turned right for about 5 miles. You'll pass a fork after a couple miles, go left. I parked along the road on the southwest side of the peak and bushwhacked to the top. See GPS track. The slope is fairly steep and definitely got the calves burning a bit. Unfortunately, the old tower is no longer present but I was able to identify the four concrete anchors for the tower bases (N 34.97616, W 093.77341). I trekked the ridgeline from west to east until I hit the 2,018 foot marker that's noted on the topo, then broke off from there and headed south, straight downhill and back to the road along the peak's south side. From there I hiked the road back west to the vehicle. There is an easier way if you park near N 34.97778, W 093.76531 and take the old 2 track up. The slope is much ore reduced that the route I used and the veg is much thinner.
