Ascent Trip Report

Left South Steens Campground and hike up Little Blitzen River, fording within a kilometer of the trailhead (and it was up to our thighs) and camped near the head of LB. Day two, broke camp and climbed (scrambled) up the north wall of the gorge. Snow was dense, slushy and about 25 cm deep, making for slow going. We followed the unploughed, closed road, peering into Keiger Gorge. Going down into Big indian Gorge we found a place to camp on a 10 degree slope. Weather was getting better--partly sunny and the rain had stopped. Day three, we strolled downstream till we got beck to the trailhead. Whew.
