Ascent Trip ReportAfter getting most of Connecticut completed back in 2011, I slacked off massively on Hartford county. That one blank spot in the state bothered me, but I figured I'd knock it out on one of my frequent trips to New England. This was not to be. So when I was in Mystic this past weekend, I determined to turn Connecticut green.
I used the Peakbagger app (Thanks Andrew Kirmse!) and Lisa Barboza's GPS track and trip report. Nice walk up the road, past quite a bit of deforestation. Hopefully they are not clearing for development. Once you get within a 100 yards of the HP, leave the road and head NNE toward a tree line. Staying on the west side of the trees will put you on an easy , cleared (brushogged) path of sorts. Hike this for 50-70 yards then turn east through the trees and look for the cairn. Lisa Barboza from CA was the last name in the register, from 3 weeks previous. Now on to green Maryland and PA.
