Ascent Trip ReportWe rode in going South on 13 after highpointing Juneau County. We turned right on the edge of Friendship on Mound View Road. Next we turned right and went to the base area of the Skyline Ski Area on 13th Court. There are large signs that state that the ski area is closed and that trespassing is not allowed. Being county highpointers and skiers, we had a necessity to have a look around though and we began climbing straight up the main chairlift's liftline. It was actually quite steep in places, meaning that it could have been some good skiing for Wisconsin. Once at the top, we found the highpoint to be right at the unloading station. Great views to the west at the top. On our way down some turkey vultures soared above us and danced through the open spaces between the trees. It was a pretty quick hike, and its always nice to get to see a ski area. Hopefully it will one day reopen and we can ski there. For those wanting to avoid the trespassing signs, I bet you could climb up on the east side from highway 13 through the trees.
