Ascent Trip ReportI used Bob Burd's track as inspiration for this loop hike. Started around lunch, I did not see anyone on the trail for the 2 miles to the 3 way trail junction. I chose the trail heading towards Yosemite Falls, which really just takes you further west and loses some extra elevation. I saw nobody on this trail, nor on the trail to North Dome once I hit the junction. I finally saw the crowds as soon as my trail intercepted the main North Dome trail.
Getting down to North Dome is the only semi-challenging part, although it is all on trail you do have to watch your step on the slab portions. Awesome views from ND. Then I went over to Basket Dome, which was easier than I thought. My ascent track through the forest was poor, as I was nervous about dropping too low and getting close to any runouts. But on return I stayed low, found a light use trail, and connected back to the North Dome trail fairly easily. Basket Dome has fantastic views of Half Dome/Clouds Rest and is a safe climb.
I left the ND trail to visit the Natural Arch, and then to climb Indian Rock. Indian Rock was somewhat confusing to me, I saw 2 competing highpoints, neither of which were immediately obvious as to the best route up. Much meandering around at this point. I felt like the highpoint on the east side was higher, but I wasn't sure so I went up both. I then went cross country down the north side of the peak, eventually rejoining the trail at the 3 way junction.
