Ascent Trip ReportAwesome 5-day, 100-mile backpack trip of a lifetime. Started at Brooks Lake and followed the Continental Divide to Younts Peak, then followed the South Fork of the Yellowstone to Hawks Rest. On the return we hiked to the Parting of the Waters and then followed the Continental Divide Trail out to Turpin Meadows.
Highlights included: Younts Pk, 15 miles above tree-line at 10500 to 11500 following the Continental Divide, the Headwaters of the Yellowstone, Hawks Rest, Thorofare RS, Bridger Lake, and the Parting of the Waters.
Day 1 - Brooks Lake to Bonneville Pass, then attained the ridge to the north picking up the Continental Divide and following it east past Crescent Mt to Marston Pass and on to the headwaters of the South Fork of the Yellowstone (1st camp).
Day 2 - Bagged Younts Peak from the SE Ridge (Class 3), then followed the trail along the South Fork of the Yellowstone to mouth of Castle Creek (2nd camp).
Day - 3 Hiked to Hawks Rest, pitched camp then explored Bridger Lake, Thorofare RS, and the Trident. (3rd Camp - Hawks Rest)
Day 4 - Climbed Hawks Rest from the SE, followed Atlantic Creek Trail to the Parting of the Waters, then picked up the Continental Divide Trail that we followed till dark (4th Camp on the trail).
Day 5 - Continued on the CDT an took the spur trail to Turpin Meadows.
