Ascent Trip Report

Trailhead is on a surface street in the Tierrasanta community of the City of San Diego, near the intersection of Calle de Vida and Colina Dorada Drive. The trail is a series of service roads inside the Mission Trails Regional Park. A kiosk marks the trail. The objective was Hill 875, but also included Hills 787, and 809 aka 810. Trail markers are good at marking the trails, but not necessarily the peaks, which are plain enough on the topo maps, though there are differences in the altitudes on the Gaia and Peakbagger maps. Following the Fortuna Saddle Trail, my first peak was Hill 787. The area on top is fenced off as a sensitive habitat area, probably for a the brine shrimp, a species unique to the Kearny Mesa area. Next peak was 875 itself, which was slightly off the main path. Hill 809/810 was the final objective. It was marked by a benchmark sticking out of a pipe mounted at right angles to the surface. I saw some deer near this benchmark. This was also a fenced-off Sensitive Habitat area. I hiked back along the service roads, particularly the Rim Trail. I returned t the trailhead without incident.
