Ascent Trip ReportFrom NM-96 (near MM23) turn south onto the signed FR-103/76, followed by a quick right onto FR-76. Proceed on FR-76 for 2.3 miles then left on unsigned FR-171 (Cecilla Canyon). After only a tenth of a mile you will see a steep rutted road on your right signed 1160. Take FR-1160 for 2.8 miles. FR-1160 is a four-wheel drive road. The trailhead for the CDT (Trail# 31) is at the end of the road. On maps, FR-1160 is shown as FR-171B.
The CDT is easy to follow and is well marked. The trail goes close to the peaks just a short walk across open meadows.
