| Elevation:||2060 ft / 627 m|
Ascent Trip ReportYou'll need permission to access the Cherokee and Bartow COHPs through the Lake Arrowhead community. Another option is an old road from GA 140 that reaches the ridgeline near the summit of Pine Log Mountain. A mountain bike might be handy. Email me for details.
Once you reach Pine Log Mountain, follow the road SW across a gap to reach Bear Mountain, which has a tall skinny tower. As the road approaches the summit, turn left under the guy-wires and follow them downhill. Past the anchors, you'll find a good path that will take you down the ridge to the Bartow COHP liner just inside the 2060 contour.
Note: My route map doesn't quite reach the Bartow line. We were there, but I forgot to record the track until after we started our return hike. We didn't see any stakes marking the county line, so you have to make sure you are in Bartow County and then head back up the ridgeline to be sure you've covered the COHP.
