Ascent Trip Report

The parking area is huge here. There are paved spots along the road and then a large dirt lot. We parked at the bottom of the dirt lot. The hike up with filled with tourists as an obvious place to get out and play and some easy rocks and get a view. None seemed to know they were doing the Teller County HP. The HP as marked on the database is on the side of the hill getting up there. I climbed the top of every rock that appeared tall and the circled the area where the GPS dot coordinates until sure I had the political HP. Too many people here to be enjoyable but at least a CHP done easily off road. Based on reading the other trip reports it appears the HP is the tallest rock but the peakbagger GPS point kept coming up lower on the hill. Not surprised as i found all of my GPS points today aligned with the actual highpoint of rocks but not the UGGS topo maps very well today
