Ascent Trip ReportWe were confused where to park along the FR 302. We were following excellent directions in David Muller's book, "Colorado Summit Hikes" by the CMC. So we ended up parking too far down road and bushwhacking up. On the way down we found the obvious social trail he mentions and it is in fine shape and well marked with tall cairns. So the key to making this short hike is to find the unmarked forest road that turns abruptly and sharply uphill near the summit. This is probably the only rough section of road that I needed to be in 4 high to get traction but it is only 100 feet of driving then a large parking area. The dirt trail is your start and it becomes an easy to find trail from there.
NOTE: our GPS track. The path to the west is the trail down we took - this is your trail UP! the path to the east was our bushwhack path. Be careful. In hunting season bring lots of orange as there were hunters all over the place in OCT!
