Ascent Trip ReportMt Linn is only about 10 miles from Anthony Peak as the crow flies, but the drive between the two is interminable. I chose not to follow the seemingly more direct route described by Frederick Johnson because I was concerned I could run into a rough patch or closed road. So I backtracked to Road 306 and headed north to Paskenta to check in with USFS staff who directed me to M2 / Toomes Camp road. M2 is well paved for about 16 miles, and the rest of the dirt road to the Ides Cove turn off is generally very good. As Dean noted, Google maps will get you there, but sometimes likes to divert you onto dubious 'short cuts' to make things interesting. Simply staying on the main road will take you to M22, and then the Ides Cove turnoff. The final 2 miles had some steep and rough bits, but were negotiable with my CR-V.
The hike is fairly short and straightforward, up the ridge between the two trails. I did not find a register at the summit. Of note at this time of year, the forest was overrun with deer hunters, especially along F7 (Alder Springs Road). I didn't encounter anyone else who looked to be a simple hiker.
