Ascent Trip Report

I started hiking from the Piñon Flats Campground and made my way along the road to the main sand dunes parking area. After walking across the sand to the start of the dunes, I started working my way up the ridges of the dunes, trying to get higher with each step. At some point, I hiked cross slope to get to the last set of ridges before making my final ascent to the summit of this dune. Once on the final stretch, I was walking along the ridge with steep drop offs on both sides. At the summit, I took several pictures, re-hydrated and started back down. Going down is much easier. The hike ended at the parking are where I met the rest of my group. This hike description lacks much detail but since there are not established routes, its hard to add more detail than this.
