Ascent Trip ReportMy Dad and I summited Fool Creek Peak from North Walker Canyon last year. My Isuzu Trooper made it almost a mile up North Walker Canyon to a stream crossing, where we parked. On the way up we were caught in a torrential rainstorm. We found some rock outcroppings just below 8000 feet to take shelter under before continuing to the saddle and summit. At the summit we were rewarded with views of rain falling on the desert around us, with sunbeams falling in places.
The rain made this a very memorable hike. We had done the same hike a few years previously, before the Clay Springs Fire burned much of the Canyon Mountains. In 2017 it was neat to see the change from pre to post fire landscape on the mountain.
