Ascent Trip ReportFrom Lake City, we followed Henson's Creek upsteam to a signposted turnoff to Nellie's Creek Trail head ( parking and wild camping at junction). Our 4x4 Jeep Cherokee coped OK with the 4 mile rough but dry ascent to the Trailhead which had various turning/ parking options. The worst part was the 400m after the first river crossing, then it got easier. Turn left at the fork. We camped wild in lovely meadows with stream about 0.6 mile before the spacious trailhead.
At the trailhead is a signboard with 1:50000 and 1:14000 maps and the path is very obvious and straightforward. We took 3 hours to reach the summit. There is a short c 20m easy scrambling section. Views were spectacularly clear from the sloping plateau summit, which has a very steep drop to one side. We found a witness mark ( 1895) on a subsidiary rock outcrop but no survey mark. The HP is a rock outcrop at the end of the plateau in the centre. We descended over an enticing subsidiary pinnacle ridge. We had to descend to traverse below one awkward section but otherwise it was easy fun scrambling. We returned via a horse trail to the camping meadows where we spent a second night.A superb ascent.
