Ascent Trip Report

Nothing motivates oneself except the determination to ascend and succeed in that effort. This "HP" was not problematic (at first). All it took was a quick stop on my way back home from the Coast (I thought).

Hit Area 1 between the two houses on Highway 55 near Dunn. This appears to be the HP of the County per my readings and the previous reports of others. Added the area in the field and behind the homestead at 11202 Harnett-Dunn Road for good measure. Roughly the same as Area 2 and the area described by Tom Layton on Godwin Lake Road. Area 3 looked similar or inconsequential depending on your demeanor and eyesight or GPS.

In Area 1 I made sure I got permission first as the homeowner was working in his yard. Hard to tell which side of the road is higher? Agree with Tom Layton on conclusions here....

In Eastern NC, the eye test is almost as key as the GPS and topo maps. When your eyes start to fade, that is the challenge. Lucky for me (now) that it is my near sighted vision that is challenged and not the longer range view.
