Ascent Trip Report

This is a tricky HP. It is near the Jones and Lenoir County HPs as well. As with most low county high points, there are a number of multiple points where the HP is within 1-2 feet of variance. I decided to visit Area 7, which had been described previously as follows:

The northern area is a skinny ridge north of Potters Hill Road just east of the Duplin County line that appears to be a short walk through rows of timber. We parked at a pullout on the county line and tried to follow the rows N/NE to the ridge. This area had been clear-cut when Dillmore visited in 2008, and it has been replanted in pines that have not grown enough to choke out the briars.

Yes, Yes, the briars and the undersbrush and spiders and snakes and poison ivy. Best way to conquer this area is with long pants and long shirt and cap. March into the brush and just hope you get out with no bites or infestation.
