Ascent Trip ReportThe trip mileage on this is simply added on to the hike up Horseshoe instead of saddle to saddle which I am feeling to lazy to calculate correctly. It was 0.6 miles each way extra. There is a large nasty downclimb in unstable rock, an easy saddle and a moderate upclimb to gain the 129 feet of prominence but then the only safe way back to the main saddle between Peerless and Horseshoe, was unfortunately to re-climb most of Horseshoe. I plotted my GPS track back from this small peak and down to the car for reference although the climbing stats herein is only the extra credit trip down and back to Horseshoe since I included the downclimb back to the car as part of the Horseshoe climb
Whereas the hike up Horseshoe was all easy class 1 and stable rock the backside of Horseshoe had some very unstable talus and so what the heck was I thinking doing this for extra credit by myself? But then I see that Gerry Roach climbed this goofy little extra credit peak and if good enough for him.......suddenly feeling alright about bagging this extra credit. Ha!
