Ascent Trip Report

Fun walk.

We parked at the pullout by the road. Important! You can proceed past here, no gate, but you would want a high clearance Jeep etc. As we walked the road, we remarked that our 4Runner could have made it partway no problem, but halfway up it narrows and the rocks become large boulders in the dirt road. ATV no problem. We saw a Land Cruiser convention caravan of 10 vehicles go up past us, and come down with a different gang of them. They apparently had no issues.

Short walk from the road. We were up to the high contour (SE one) in under an hour, close to 2 miles up a thousand feet. We investigated it, then the SW one, then the NE one along the cliff edge. Hard to say which is highest, but pretty sure it isn't the SW one. We had a poor GPS, and its readings were similar for SE and NE, 10' or more lower for SW.

Allow perhaps 3 hours to do it all; we did it in less than that. Watch out for bee nests in the ground near the SE contour HP. Registers at SE and NE, nothing at SW.
