Ascent Trip Report

On our travel day back to Las Vegas, we wanted to do something short in the morning so we could get on the road. Anji had identified Gaylor as fitting the bill, so we got up early, broke camp, and drove to the park entrance ahead of the crowd. We parked at the turnout just inside the park and headed up the trail to Gaylor Lakes. Near the lakes, a use trail leads up to the top, though it gets a little spotty in the scree not far from the summit. But the way is obvious by that point anyway. We cruised up, checked out a good view of the area and the nearby lakes, then headed back to the trailhead. We ran into several people on our way down that were heading up to the lakes to fish, but no one planning on hiking to the summit of the peak.

We made it back to LV at a decent hour, so mission accomplished.
