Ascent Trip ReportHiked in from Adirondack Loj. Spend one night at the Marcy Dam. Bears are a big issue, you need a special bear canister. We bought one from REI prior to our trip, but the Adirondack bears are apparently very smart and have already figured it out. The employees at the ADK outpost are helpful and let us borrow one of theirs. The second day we hiked up to Mt. Marcy, picked up our camping gear at the dam on the way out, and made it back to the Loj. We did filter more water at Indian Falls on the way out. It is a long day. The trail is steep for the last mile, but not particularly difficult. Beautiful views from the top, we couldn't have asked for a better day.
