Ascent Trip Report

This was one of those hikes that is extremely satisfying albeit Mount Elenore appears to be an insignificant mountain with little interest. However, every time I drive UT-56 west across Escalante Valley, I'll be able to say "I was on top of that Mountain" and it is in view for more than 20 miles.

As depicted in my gps track, the road that is clear on Google Earth, is not drivable in a 2WD so my hike was a bit longer than anticipated. The dirt road itself fades in and out and does not appear to be used often enough to keep it discernable. The bushwhack is not too bad and one can zig-zag around the juniper and pine trees enough to not even call the approach a bushwhack; however, once in the wash then it is bushwhacking. There are some game trails along the wash and at one point it has a three way fork. From there I hiked out of the wash and up the east face, kind of following what would be the middle fork ridge.

There are no obstructions on the summit and one can see for miles. Unfortunately this part of Utah and Nevada isn't loaded with high peaks so it looked rather mundane. BUT I was on top of Mount Elenore!
