Ascent Trip Report

From county road 1-C take FSR 400 which is paved, zero out odometer here. In a few miles the road turns to gravel, stay right on 400 and turn right on FSR 959 at 6.4 miles. Follow 959 8.5 miles to a T intersection and turn right on FSR 260. In a few tenths of a mile is a split, stay right on 260 which is now a lesser road. It's rough and bumpy but still fine for a Subaru type vehicle with care to the bermed end of the road,1.8 miles total on 260 to 5250'elevation. The hike is simple and short, about 1.7 miles on the old road bed and ATV track to the top and through a bit of burned woods then above tree line in meadow and scree. The old road beyond the berm is closed to motor vehicles but sees regular ATV use.
Good views and a lot of beargrass, we had some nice fall colors too. Nice hike but it's a pretty long drive to get to for such a short one.
Note that there is a pretty decent campsite just a few hundred feet before the end of the road.
