Ascent Trip ReportThe only good views in West Tennessee come from fire towers. Luckily, there is one at McNairy county’s high point.
The first 2 points are near the Mt Peters Fire Tower. One is right at the base and the other is across the street and down a bit.
The fire tower offers a great 360 degree view of the surrounding area.
The contour across the street is about 100 yards into posted hunting property. I tempted fate and walked up the dirt road and got scared by a deer about 10 feet from me. To bad I was only shooting pictures that day. There was a trailer and some machinery rusting in this area.
The third spot is about 4 miles north of the other 2 up another posted hunting property on a dirt road as well.
To reach these points take the Jackson, TN exit off I-40 and head south to Henderson in Chester county on US Hwy 45.
From the intersection with TN-100 in Chester continue south 5.8 miles
Turn left on to TN-199/Finger Leapwood Rd
At 5.4 miles on TN-199 it splits with Albert Owens Rd.
The Jones point is 3 miles further down TN-199 on High Summit Rd
The Mt Peters points are 4 miles down Albert Owens Rd at the intersection with Beauty Hill Rd.
