Ascent Trip Report

Hancock county has two contours over 2,620 feet. One is on Clinch Mountain and is easily accessible. The other, on Newman Ridge is more of a bush whack.
area one on Clinch Mtn
From Mooresburg on Highway 11W, take Highway 31 north 6.7 miles north and turn right onto Firetower Road near the top of the mountain.
This is a rough gravel road. 4WD is not required but I wouldn’t attempt it in rainy conditions. When I arrived there for 4 or 5 goats grazing near the tower that ran off as I approached. The tower was missing its first ladder rung so climbing up for a view was not easily accessible but if one were so inclined, it would probably be a great view.

area two on Newman Ridge
I have not attempted this HP.
