Ascent Trip ReportTried Constantia Rd approach first (from the east, 395 side). It didn't work at all for me and my sedan car. I just completed Babbitt and Ingalls drives without any issues, but there FR 24N22X presented different level of difficulty - very sandy soil with extremely deep washes and ruts - I encountered 3 very tough spots within first quarter of mile. Probably o.k. for 4WD but doesn't make any sense compared to Frenchman Lake approach, which is extremely scenic as well.
Excellent report by Bob McLaughlin, his driving directions and GPX file were very helpful. I got to 2WD parking at 16:30, and afraid of sunset, made roundtrip in 2 hrs 20 min.
