Ascent of Baldy Mountain on 2018-09-03
|Date:||Monday, September 3, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||9835 ft / 2997 m|
Ascent Trip ReportIt turns out that there's a pretty good use trail almost all the way up the southwest ridge of this peak. From the first "single car parking" area I came to on Palisades Creek Road, I ascended directly up the steep slope immediately to the north and picked up the use trail upon gaining the southwest ridge near its lower terminus. From here, the trail climbs rather consistently toward the top, initially through Mountain Mahogany and then Douglas Fir with a small bit of elevation loss past point 7523. The only spot where the trail really fades out is near the outcrops below Little Baldy, otherwise this is a nice steep trail hike.
