Ascent Trip Report

Directions: Interstate-80, Exit 106 (Downtown Lovelock), head into town on Main street to the courthouse, then turn right onto Central Ave and follow out of town for 1.5 miles to Nevada Hwy 399(Pitt Rd),
turn left set odometer and head in a westerly direction on paved hwy 399 for 12 miles and turn right at a sign for "Seven Troughs/Sulfer". Follow this graded gravel road for about 5 miles and take a the left fork at a "Y" junction, at 20.3 miles from start of Hwy 399 make a sharp left curve and head west up to a pass through the Seven Troughs range, descend down the winding road with some blind curves passed a small ranch site (abandoned?)off to the right and at 31.5 miles a corral off the left. At 33 miles turn right (NW) on BLM road 2058 which is compact sand but suitable for high clearance 2WD. In about 6 miles the road comes to a junction with the Hannon Springs Road, take the left fork or park here. It is about 2.75 miles to Hannon Springs and the start of the cross country route up the ridgeline to the summit. It is class one through scattered sagebrush, but the final 30 feet to the summit block is easy class II. A register is in a glass jar.
