Ascent Trip Report4h30 East-West traverse. Parking area N side of Highway 4 just E of Cameron Lake, used disused railway bridge to cross creek, then after 200m trail heads R (N) uphill, passing viewpoint seat, then along ridge, several ups and downs including the P100m East summit. Half mile before West summit, look for flagged trail forking L (we missed it as can be seen from my GPS track), steeply up passing L of cliffs, to summit in trees. Steeply down, flagged, often steep and soily, occasional fixed ropes to protect hardest parts. Trail descends to old railway, we turn R a short way then steep trail down to lake shore, turn R on dirt road passing cabins, trail L into the very popular Cathedral Grove, where we hitched a ride back to our starting point.
Original plan was Mt Arrowsmith but it was closed due to fire risk. This was a nice alternative. Last peak of our week long trip to Vancouver Island.
